It's Child Welfare Worker Appreciation Week!
Did you know that in September 13th-17th is #ChildWelfareWorkerAppreciation Week! We recognize our Child Welfare Professionals' ability to positively influence a life's trajectory through the heart, the head, and the hands. Here are some stories and quotes from some of our local #ChildWelfareHeroes!
Meet Children's Home Society's Sandi Denmark and Clyatt Mills! In Child Welfare, teamwork is 100% necessary to ensure the safety of children in care! Although their current roles do not require it, Sandi and Clyatt manage a caseload, complete home visits, and have jumped right in and volunteered to assist other team members with home visits, parent contacts, completing home studies, while still maintaining their own responsibilities. They do not wait for other team members to ask for help, they step up and figure out who is struggling and see what they can do to assist. Incredible team players! Thank you Sandi & Clyatt for all you do to support children and families!
Meet some of our Caregiver Support team! Back in 2019, Heartland for Children formed our Caregiver Support team, which is now made up 11 team members, who license and provide direct support to the relatives and non-relatives that make the decision to care for children and teens who have experienced abuse and neglect. In the past 2 years, the Caregiver Support team has licensed over 224 Level 1 families that are serving over 389 children. From support groups, resources and one-on-one assistance, this team is there to ensure that families are able to care for these children successfully. Thank you Caregiver Support team for all that you do for the children and families in our community!
"THANK YOU to all the kinship caregivers for taking amazing care of the children placed in your care when they needed a safe and stable home. I am amazed every day by the hundreds of families we have worked with and what they do each and every day all for the best interests of a child placed in their care."
- Ashley Hunt, Director of Caregiver Support
